Dairy Industry
Tamaki Control's recent dairy projects include the automation of
11 wet floor/processing plants, 19 UF/MF/RO plants, 27
evaporators, and 13 driers both in New Zealand and overseas,
using a number of PLC/DCS and HMI platforms. We have a pricing model
that allows us to quickly cost the automation component of dairy
projects.
The approach that we follow is to develop preliminary
animated HMI screens at a very early phase of projects, (in effect
"moving" P&IDs), and to use these as the basis for discussing
the requirements of the customer. The screen shown here is a
simplified example. The customer can quickly confirm that we have
correctly understood the functioning of his plant, and once
engineering begins these screens become the basis for the final
system graphics. The HMI that we often use in dairy applications
features .htm graphics that are readily transportable, and make this
process very easy.

Lime Kiln
Sample schematics from a recent automation upgrade at a lime
works. Telemechanique and Siemens PLCs control the lime production
process which involves crushing, hydration, separation and
storage.

Hydro Station
Screens that were developed as part of a project that linked 16
hydro generating units on 5 rivers back to a central command centre.
Honeywell Experion is the HMI, controlling the units through 27
Rockwell and Siemens PLCs.

Oil and Gas
Tamaki Control has experience with Distributed Control Systems
and Safety Shutdown Systems, and is familiar with the oil and gas
industry requirements for redundancy, reliability, safety and
continuous process control.
This has resulted in Tamaki Control's involvement in the design
and implementation of control systems for several large
petrochemical project within NZ and internationally.
